Women Who Won Primaries: Orode Uduaghan Clinches APC Ticket for Delta Assembly Seat

Orode Uduaghan, former Delta State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Child Development, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Warri North Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The 36-year-old politician secured victory during the APC state assembly primaries conducted across Delta State this week, emerging as the party’s flag bearer for the constituency.

Orode, popularly known as Orode Meyiwa Uduaghan, is the daughter of former Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan. Before joining partisan politics, she served in the Delta State Executive Council where she oversaw humanitarian affairs, community support services and child development initiatives.

Her emergence followed weeks of consultations and political mobilization within Warri North, where she campaigned on youth inclusion, community development and grassroots representation. In a message shared after declaring her intention to contest, she described her ambition as part of a commitment to “serve the people” and deepen development in the constituency.

The APC primaries in Delta State produced candidates across the 29 state constituencies, with party officials describing the exercise as peaceful and transparent.

Orode Uduaghan’s political profile has continued to grow in recent years through her involvement in governance and humanitarian programmes in Delta State, particularly in areas relating to vulnerable communities, women and children.

Her father, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, served as Governor of Delta State between 2007 and 2015 and recently returned to the APC ahead of the 2027 elections
