AIG Margaret Ochalla Agebe Named Among 65 Influential Women Recognized with the “Women Making Impact” Award

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Margaret Ochalla Agebe, a distinguished officer of the Nigeria Police Force, continues to break barriers in law enforcement. On March 17, 2025, she assumed office as the 54th Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos, succeeding AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo (rtd). ​

Her appointment is a testament to her extensive experience and dedication to combating crime and enhancing security across Nigeria.​

On March 31st, AIG Agebe was named among 65 remarkable women honored with the “Award of Women Making Impact” at the Arise Gala/Award Night. This accolade recognizes her significant contributions to law enforcement and her unwavering commitment to public service.​

AIG Agebe’s illustrious career includes pivotal roles such as Officer In-Charge of the Monitoring Unit in Anambra, Team Leader of the IGP Monitoring Unit, Assistant Commissioner of Police at the Force Gender Unit, and Advisor to the Inspector General on Gender Issues. She has also served as Commissioner of Police at the Anti-Fraud Unit in the Force CID, Abuja, and Commissioner of Police at the Special Fraud Unit in Lagos. Her leadership has been instrumental in establishing specialized units and frameworks that have significantly enhanced the operational capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force. ​

Her educational background is equally impressive, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, a Bachelor of Science in Conflict Resolution and Refugee Management, and a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies. These qualifications underpin her strategic approach to modern policing and conflict resolution.

Throughout her career, AIG Agebe has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Global Women Hall of Fame (2017), the Africa Women Leadership Award, and the National Security Award for Excellent Performance and Exemplary Leadership. Her recent recognition at the Arise Gala further cements her status as a trailblazer and role model for women in law enforcement and beyond.​

As she continues to lead the FCID Annex in Lagos, AIG Agebe remains committed to strengthening security operations, enhancing investigative efficiency, and fostering public trust in the police force.
